Welcome to Australian Deaf History Blog

This blog is where all the findings, related websites and information on Australian Deaf History, excluding Aborigines (unfortunately) ranging from 1788 to 1880.

First of all, Australia could be considered as unique country with its Deaf Community forming before the establishments of deaf schools across the country. And the history of the Deaf Community in Australia is fairly recent, compared to the rest of the world. Hence, there are not much information on the historical aspect of Australian Deaf Community. This is an attempt to address that.

Secondly, please do not accept the information from this blog as accurate - always check its sources and ask for permission to use for your own ends.

Lastly, it is always best to leave comments here - even to ask questions or to clarify, as well sharing any more details. There is no funds to set up a website focusing on Australian Deaf Community (there is a hope that in future, New Zealand would like to join in here) - so that means no forum to use, etc.

Enjoy and appreciate Australian Deaf History...

Thanks.
